Cisneros Media Distribution Signs Deal with Intro Pictures for the Rights to the Format of TV Series “DeMente Criminal” in Brazil

Cisneros Media Distribution (CMD) today announced the signing of a deal with the Brazilian production company Intro Pictures, a.k.a. IoIo Filmes, for the rights to develop the format of “DeMente Criminal” [Criminal MasterMind], the intriguing TV series based on the bestselling book “Sangre en el Divan” [Blood on the Couch], written by the journalist Ybeyise Pacheco

“It’s a pleasure to have the opportunity to announce for the first time the production of a Cisneros Media Distribution format in Brazil”, boasted Marcello Coltro, EVP of Content Distribution for Cisneros Media.  “We have confidence in the work of the production house IoIo, which is celebrating its 10 years in the industry, producing television series and films, even receiving a Festival de Cannes Award for Best Screenplay in 2006.”

IoIo will develop the story of “DeMente Criminal” for the Brazilian market in collaboration with this strategic partner Navajo Films, a production company based in Argentina.  “We are always looking for ideas and stories that facilitate the independent production of top-quality original content for Brazil, and which is exportable to other regions,” stated Simoni de Mendonça, Commercial Manager of IoIo.

As for Lucas Vivo, President of Navajo Productions, he stressed that “in the case of ‘Criminal DeMente,’ we believe that it’s a very interesting story that can easily be adapted for the TV audiences of Brazil, especially since we have found a real case with many similarities in Brazil that will only contribute to its appeal in the local market.”

“DeMente Criminal” tells the chilling story of how a distinguished psychiatrist was exposed by the law as an abusive monster and cold-blooded murderer.  Highly respected by his peers, Dr. Raimundo Acosta built a thriving practice and earned a solid reputation in the community as an accomplished medical professional and educator, managing to hide all the despicable acts he regularly committed at his clinic.

When Alicia Celaya, one of his young patients, is brutally murdered, her mother, Veronica, vows to prove that the prestigious psychiatrist is responsible for her death.  Enlisting the help of a shrewd police investigator, who has been harboring suspicions about Dr. Acosta for quite some time, Veronica starts on the most difficult journey of her life: the search for evidence that proves the doctor guilt in her daughter’s death.

Confronting this brilliant manipulator and exposing him as the evil fraud that he is will prove a truly dangerous mission.  After enduring countless attacks and setbacks, Veronica, together with detectives Gabriela Fons and Julio Villalobos, and journalist Laura Montesinos, finally proves their case.  Their investigations reveal that Dr. Acosta had spent his entire career committing heinous crimes that ranged from sexual abuse and rape to hiring hit-men to kill witnesses.  All kept absolute secrecy… until he made the fatal mistake of murdering Alicia with his own hands.
