Cazando a un Millonario
A TV game show brings two strangers together, putting them on the tortuous road to love…
Eva and Felipe meet under very unusual circumstances: as contestants on a TV game show. Both find themselves there for similar reasons. Eva has just lost her family’s savings at the hands of her former fiancé, who was given the responsibility of managing their money and instead threw it away in a gambling spree. And Felipe, born a millionaire in a high class family, has seen his inheritance dissipate in the stock market,and is now in a dire financial situation.
The launching of a program titled Cazando a un Millonario (Catching a Millionaire) offers them the possibility of resolving their money problems. The show features a millionaire bachelor as the future husband who must choose one of fiv econtestants to make her his wife. The best part is that once married, the bride receives a grand prize of $100,000.
With the premiere just a few days away, the show’s producers are desperate because they cannot find a rich candidate willing to get married this way. That is when Gustavo, Felipe’s best friend, convinces him to volunteer, concealing the real state of his finances. Since he has such a prominent last name, no one will suspect he is no longer a millionaire. Gustavo insists that, with the grand prize money at hand, Felipe will be able to invest it and quickly get back on his feet. He also advises Felipe to choose the contestant who seems the most simple-minded and docile, so that it will be easier to convince her to put the money in his hands to manage at his discretion.
Meanwhile, Eva is reluctant to put herself in such a humiliating situation, but her family’s bankrupcy pushes her to do it against her better judgement. Following the advice of her best friend, Eva decides to appear humble, sweet and submissive. She even changes her style of clothing and make-up, to contrast with the other contestantswho seem to be aggressive fortune hunters.
And so begins the story of love and conflict that will put the main characters in a whirlwind of emotions. Felipe chooses Eva, and the marriage takes place before the eyes of the whole country. But what the new couple does not know is that the gameshow’s rules require that they live together for at least one year before receiving the prize money. And during that crucial year, Eva and Felipe discover that while fortune brought them together, true love will keep them united forever... in spite of the many obstacles placed by Valentina, Felipe’s fiancée, who forms an alliance with Eva’s former boyfriend to destroy the happiness that she and Felipe have found by chance.
